Help our voki 'travel' around the world!

Our 3rd graders from Iowa are trying to meet new people from all over the world.  We decided to make a voki and see if it could 'travel' to new places.  We are excited that you have found us.  Please leave a comment and let us know where you're from.  Our class would love to skype with you.  We hope to be able to learn about new places and 'meet' new people.  Thanks for participating!

  15. Hello from Kaposvár, Hungary! It is a beautiful city in Somogy County, southwest of Budapest and not too far from Lake Balaton, the "Hungarian Sea." Perhaps we could Skype sometime, but since we do not have Internet in my classrooms, maybe my students can make a video for you.

  22. Hi, my name is Paul, I am Landon's dad. I live in Phoenix Az. It is a beautiful place surrounded by desert, mountains, cactus, and all sorts of desert animals like bobcats, mountain lions, havalena, lizards, rattle snakes, road runners, coyotes, and even scorpions. If you travel about 2 hours north you can visit the world famous Grand canyon! In the summer it is quite hot here almost 120 degrees, but in the winter while you are all freezing and shoveling snow it is 70 degrees here. In the winter we can still dress in shorts and t-shirts, and even go swimming! It is a great city, you can ask Landon more about it he has ben here many times.

  25. Hello Mrs. Pearson and class!
How fun to learn that you lived in the Twin Cities- great connection! I taught ELL and also did my Principal internship at an international School in Daejon, South Korea. I was able to go back there this month to visit and then flew to Shanghai, China to attend a Learning conference! We learned about many ways to use the web in class- just like the great things you're doing! :)

It's very exciting. This year I get to go to England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Germany, Belgium and Holland with my band!

  28. Hi Lance,
Wow! Cool! What an exciting life! Lucas wants to know if you eat Belgium waffles? It was so great to hear from you! We will add England to our map! Landon is curious if you see fish since you live on a boat. Good questions are coming from my class. Thanks again!

  29. Great questions guys!

I haven't been to belgium yet but when I go I am planning on eat a Belgium waffle and I will take a picture of it for you guys!
In england the call french fries CHIPS and they call potato chips CRISPS! So I mess that up all the time. Also the money looks different so it is hard for me to tell how much money I have. Instead of having dollar bills, they have dollar coins.

Landon, I can see fish from the boat sometimes. I have a friend who is Marine Scientist so she works with Plankton, Fish and other sea life all the time. I will ask her if she has any pictures of things that live in England's water that we can send you guys!
    Thanks!

  31. Hi from Eagan, Minnesota! My name is Amy and I went to the same college as Miss Goettsch, one of your teachers. I'm a children's librarian at a public library in a city called South St. Paul. Libraries are great places to find more information about the places you'll get to hear about from all your travels. Good luck!

Oh, and Austin, your Twins poster was great! I look forward to seeing another one next season!

Here we measure distance by MINUTES, not MILES because it really depends on traffic a lot. I am Austin's Aunt Deb. His cousins Joey, Kerilyn and Samantha as well as his Uncle Joe all say HEEEELLLLLLLOOOOOO!!!! :)

  36. Greetings from Laguna Niguel California. This is Austin's Great Aunt Nancy and her daughter Carrie, I am Austin's cousin. Laguna Niguel is in Orange County on the coast of California. Austin came to visit us this Summer and we had a great time going to the Beach, Aquarium and Disneyland. We love your Voki, can't wait to see how many people from around the world contact you. Mom used to teach 3rd grade in Iowa (Storm Lake and Early) about 50 years ago and she said that she never would have dreamed of having something like this in her classroom, you are very fortunate.

  37. Greetings from Peterson, Iowa. This is Austin's Aunt Gloria. I work at Eaton in Spencer, which makes parts for agriculture, construction, and lawn equipment. We currently have ten people from our Eaton plant in Shanghai, China working with us to learn how to build what our plant manufactures. Not all of the people speak English so it is a challenge to communicate. I enjoy keeping track of what you are learning!
